• 1950s shirtwaist dress
• fit + flare shape
• cotton, light lavender color, medium-light weight
• atomic geometric striped border print detail, designed by Ross Sutherland, a painter-member of the Associated American Artists
• shades of purple, pink, black, white
• pointed collar
• pleated panels on upper bodice
• short sleeves
• fitted waist, thin belt loops
• pleated over-circle skirt (so much fabric!)
• square gold tone metal button closures up front bodice, metal side zipper closure
• sleeves are lined in self fabric, the rest is unlined
• label: Toni Todd Original
A NOTE ON THE FABRIC: The atomic printed fabric is an original design created by Ross Sutherland, a distinguished painter-member of the Associated American Artists (AAA). As one ad for AAA fabrics describes, it is the "easiest way to collect fine art and pretty compliments"!
A NOTE ON THE DESIGN: It appears that this was originally a two-piece blouse and skirt set, which was later nicely sewn together into a dress. The only indication of this is a buttonhole located at the left side of the waistband which is backed in self fabric; this will not even be seen if work with a belt. If desired, you could separate the two pieces fairly easily with the help of a seamstress or if you're handy with a sewing machine. It presents like a dress very nicely, rather than a hodge-podge of pieces.

Very good vintage condition. Freshly cleaned and ready to wear! A small bit of super minor discoloration on the fold of the collar and atop the right shoulder; not noticeable when worn at all, just if closely inspected. Two super tiny fabric snags on back of bodice below left shoulder, and two tiiiiny pinhole-sized dots next to them. One suuuper small, super faint spot on hem that will not be noticed. This dress presents beautifully and is collectible, wearable art!
